This book was published to mark the exhibitions Coming Home: Ronald Searle and Cambridge School of Art at Anglia Ruskin University (13 October 19 November 2015), and Ronald Searle: Obsessed with Drawing and Cradled in Caricature: visual humour in satirical prints and drawings at the Fitzwilliam Museum (13 October 2015 31 January 2016).


About the editors

Martin Salisbury is Professor of Illustration at Cambridge School of Art in Anglia Ruskin University. He trained as an illustrator at art school in the 1970s before working as an artist, illustrator, lecturer and writer. He is the author of a number of books on the practice and theory of illustration, which have been published in numerous languages around the world.

Jane Munro is Keeper of Paintings, Drawings and Prints at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, and Director of Studies in History of Art at Christ’s College, Cambridge. She specialises in European painting and drawing of the 19th and early 20th centuries, and has curated over eighty exhibitions, many, like Silent Partners, with an interdisciplinary emphasis, and several involving partnerships in the UK, Europe, and the United States. In recognition of her work developing cultural exchange with France, she has been made Chevalier des arts et lettres and Chevalier dans l’Ordre national du Mérite.
